The game

About

Restore a derelict East Village building in our cozy management sim. Scrub, paint, repair flat by flat, choose who moves in, win their trust and track the rumours that circulate. Most odd goings-on have a normal explanation. Not all. You have one year to save it from the property developer.

Whitmore House is a tired five-storey building located in New York's East Village. It's yours now, along with everyone who lives in it. Manage it for a year or it goes to a property developer who'd love it empty.

Meet the neighbours

  • Priya works as a night shift nurse. As she sleeps during the day, she'd very much like the knocking to stop.
  • Declan is an out-of-work jazz saxophonist with plenty of time to practise. He has strong opinions about the music he hears at night.
  • Hana is an architecture student. She has questions about Whitmore House's walls. Why are the top-floor windows boarded up from the inside?
  • Zoe is a paranormal podcaster. She heard rumours about Whitmore House and thought it'd be great material. This isn't helping.
  • You'll also be renting out the empty flats to new tenants, each with their own job and habits, and their own way of taking a rumour.

Fix it up

There's the hands-on work, such as removing the boards from the doors, getting the power back on, scrubbing away years of grime and repainting the walls by hand. Then pick the finishes and furniture, and photograph each flat for its listing.

Choose who moves in

Applicants arrive on Flatmatch. Read their profiles and let the right people in.

Mind the gossip

On Who's Talking, Alistair's old program, you watch worry spread as people tell each other things, and before long everyone in the building knows. Calm a nervous tenant and you might stop it there.

Small mysteries

A knock at 3 a.m. Lights that won't stay on. You find the explanation from what you see and what your tenants tell you, and in an old building it's usually an ordinary one. Usually...

One year to save it

Fix whatever's going wrong and keep your tenants happy, and they'll trust you enough to tell you things. Keep the bills paid, the flats filled and the inspectors satisfied, while the property developer waits for you to slip up. And keep wondering why the top floor was sealed off.

You can hit pause at any time. In Classic mode, the building can be lost and the season restarted. In Cozy mode, it never is. You can switch to Cozy whenever you want.

Early Access

Made by a solo developer. Early Access includes the full management game and the first two seasons of the story. Next up will be Season 3, then the final season and the endings. Windows first, with macOS planned after launch.
