iOS App Store review queue position when Metadata Rejected
When our latest game Whip Swing received a metadata reject after waiting 10 days in queue for review, I was little worried as that rejection was a first or us. We’ve fixed the issue within an hour and re-submitted but I wasn’t sure what will be our status in the queue. After spending some time with google search I was able to find some forum discussions and mentions of the the issue but there were no definitive answer.
Since we’ve experienced this at the first hand, I wanted to share my knowledge of the issue.
When your app is metadata rejected, if you fix the meta issue without touching the binary you WILL NOT go back to beginning of the review queue. In our case our app went in to review about 20hrs later and spent around 3 hours in review to get approved this time.
But if you edit or change your binary in any way, you WILL go back to beginning of the review queue. That doesn’t matter even if there was an issue with the iTunes Connect, etc. So, make sure to not to touch your binary in situations like this…
First got rejected for binary.. and now meta rejection and been 4 days now still waiting for review… Insane system by apple… Being a toll gate u gotta pass through, got no other option… really sucks to go through this PAIN!!!
We just got a meta rejection and my colleague ofc pushed the submit button since the Apple info said so. Been over 72h and still in review. So I guess they pushed us way back. Insane if you ask me.
I’m sorry to hear that, that was a year ago and they might have changed how this works. But I do hope you might still got some priority.
Do not click “Submit for Review” after getting a Metadata Rejection, it will put you back at the beginning of the queue! You need only to responde the message in resolution center. More info here: http://www.brynbodayle.com/an-easy-mistake-with-itunes-connect-metadata-rejections/
In yonder years you could go back into review after a day or two. Lately, they are pushing you to the back. I get metadata rejected all the time and it takes at least a week to get back into review.
Pretty lame overall.
I agree, that’s not fair. Metadata rejects, specially the ones that taken care of quickly, should have some kind of priority…
Jeff how long was this last re-submit as your post is the closest time to present and our was rejected for single word in metadata.
For us, we modified the application metadata and submitted without changing the binary. The application is still in Waiting for Review phase approximately 40 hours. Not sure whats wrong or if the queue rule has changed.
